Principal's Message
Friday 25 October 2024- Term 4 Week 2
Dear Parents and Carers,
We hope this newsletter finds you well. It’s been a very busy start to the term and the children are working hard and having some fun along the way.
A Big Thank You for Grandparent’s Day!
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone for making our Grandparent's Day a great success. Thanks to the generous donations when purchasing the students’ masterpieces, we were able to assist our fundraising efforts for our sister school in India. The love and support from our grandparents truly help foster the sense of community that is so important to us.
Free Dress Day - Fundraiser for St. Xavier's School
Today was a ‘free dress’ day to raise funds for our sister school St. Xavier’s, in Arunachal Pradesh, India. In conjunction with our fundraising we’ve had several lessons in class to gain an understanding of the hardships of the students and the great work of the religious orders in helping the poorest of the poor. All money raised goes directly to the school with no intermediaries. It’s a little sacrifice for us that makes a big difference over there; thank you for your support.
Uniform Reminder
A reminder that all students should be in full school uniform each day, adhering to our uniform guidelines. Thanks for making sure that your child arrives at school properly dressed and ready to represent our school with pride. Please note that there is no make up allowed at school. If the black shoes wear out, you will need to purchase another pair, as no coloured jogger style is allowed except on sports day.
Completion of the Terraced Area
We are delighted to announce that the new terraced area overlooking the school field has been completed! This space will be a wonderful addition for outdoor learning, events, and a place for students to enjoy during their break times. This is funded from your generous donations to the Parent Forum through the Fete, the Golf Day, the Colour-thon and other fundraisers during the year. Many thanks to Luke O’Brien and the team at Inscape for their tremendous work. Next time you’re visiting school, drop down and have a look.
School Socials - A Huge Hit!
We had an amazing time at the School Socials this week. The energy was incredible (and noisy!), and it was great to see students having such a fun time together. A special thank you goes out to our fantastic DJ, Dustin "Duck" Kerr (Yr 3-6) and Adrian from the Toads (Yr K-2), for keeping the dance floor lively with his music and creating a memorable evening for everyone. We truly appreciate their contribution to making the event a success!
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to a wonderful remainder of the term.
Grace and peace,
Peter Watts

Faith and Mission News
Fr Joy’s Birthday and the SAPS Mass
On 27 October, the Sunday 9am Mass will be a special ‘St Augustine’s School’ Mass where all the ministries (readings, music, screen operating etc) will be provided by our school community. It is also Fr Joy’s birthday and we look forward to celebrating his special day with him. Children who are of school age at the Mass are invited to attend Children’s Liturgy (a 15-minute session over in the Curran Centre to have the Gospel explained in a child-friendly way). If you would like to bring a plate to share for morning tea served after Mass, that would be great. Plates can be left on the table outside the church before Mass.
Walking Rosary
October is the month of the Rosary. In this special prayer, we honour Mary and ask her to intercede for us with Jesus, her Son. A ‘Walking Rosary’ was set up on the grass area behind the Year 5 classrooms and some classes used the enormous set of 'beads' to pray. After attending the Parish Luncheon last Wednesday, 4 Blue brought the parishioners over to the Walking Rosary and Fr Joy led us in prayer. It was great to get to know some parishioners and share our faith with them.
Parish Luncheons
On the 3rd Wednesday of each month, a class attends the Parish Luncheon, where they meet some parishioners and enjoy each other's company. Everyone is welcome to attend. Our next class to attend will be K Blue on 20 November.

FETE NEWS - save the date FRI 15 NOV
We are excitedly preparing for our 2024 FETE, a special event organised in collaboration between the school and the Parent Forum. The FETE is a highlight for our students, and this year it will take place during school hours on November 15, 2024. While exact timings will be shared closer to the date, the event is planned to run from 11:15am to 1:30pm.
Please note that the FETE is exclusively for St Augustine’s students, so older siblings or friends cannot attend. However, we warmly welcome parents and carers who wish to volunteer. We kindly ask that families do not attend the FETE as participants, as the event is designed for students to explore and enjoy independently. For those students who might find this challenging, we will have designated quiet spaces available, and we encourage you to discuss any concerns with your child’s teacher.
We would greatly appreciate any assistance from parent/carer volunteers, although we understand that the timing may make it difficult for everyone. Volunteers are welcome to bring toddlers along, and if you are interested in helping out, please sign up using this link:https://signup.com/go/pVFeiKP. Volunteers will be asked to sign in at the front office upon arrival.
To make this event a success, we are also seeking donations for various stalls to add to the day's fun. As a token of our appreciation, each donated item will earn your child a raffle ticket to enter the draw to win an exciting FETE Pack.
The attached flyers provide more information on the FETE.
Over the coming weeks, we will share further details about the event, including a FETE wishlist and guidelines on what to wear on FETE day.
FETE bands will be available for purchase starting this Monday through the school office (cash or eftpos is available)!
Thank you for your continued support of our 2024 FETE. We look forward to a fantastic day!
